Happy November! The days are growing shorter and the nights are growing cooler – it must be time to start breaking out the snuggly socks and cozy sweaters! Where does the time go? We hope you get to spend some of it knitting!
We’ve been keeping John, our UPS delivery man, busy with box after box of fabulous new fall yarns, so stop in and check out what’s new.
The Madelinetosh arrived and on the same day we ordered more. Sooo pretty and popular. We suggest you buy some and make something for yourself!
Cascade 220 Sport is a fantastic addition to the Cascade 220 family and we have it in stock! Peruvian highland wool works up at 5.5 to 6 stitches per inch. It’s a great choice for color work and other fine gauge projects. Following the success of 60 Quick Knits and 60 Quick Baby Knits, Cascade has published 60 More Quick Knits. Knitters are treated to hats, mittens, and gloves featuring Cascade’s brand-new “Sportweight” yarn, a lighter variety with a crisp finish and great stitch definition. Projects include a snowflake scarf, a checkerboard muffler, Fair Isle Beret, Herringbone Mitts, and a Zigzag Lace Stole. You are going to love this book, we know because we can hardly keep it in stock! Do you need some quick Christmas gifts? How about trying Lana Grossa’s new Big & Easy? Appropriately named, this is big yarn, easy and quick to knit. We are laying it on thick! And why not, that’s the trend this winter. With the new Big & Easy yarns you’ll have the winter must-haves as fast as you can click your fingers. And that in the truest sense! How does that work? Go here and you can download a PDF full of free patterns. The new Dream in Color Everlasting DK has arrived! Come in and check out the colors… they are FAB-U-LOUS. Dream in Color Everlasting 12 ply DK yarn is a soft, 100% superwash merino dyed with a unique technique that adds great depth to the colors. It is important to note that each skein is unique, there are no dye lots. And, we are happy to say that Everlasting DK is spun and hand dyed right here in the US of A.
We have a schedule full of great classes to fill out your cool-weather wardrobe with hats, scarves, and socks. You could combine a class with making a holiday gift while learning a few new tricks of your own. Details for the classes can be found by visiting the store, or on our website.

We plan to participate, but reserve the right to close early on quiet nights. You may want to plan a night out with knitting friends, come in and knit, and then have dinner after 8 pm. We hope to plan some fun events on those evenings. Like us on Facebook for timely updates. With the holiday season upon us, remember to take a little time for yourself. Grab a latte or tea from the coffee shop and join us anytime to sit, knit, and relax…REPEAT. |
Toe Up Socks on Magic Loop
Thursday, October 27th, 2011
Have you been thinking about straying away from double points? Curious about knitting socks with one needle? Toe Up is a terrific method and learning magic loop is quite useful. I use it for nearly all of my circular knitting. You will need a 40″ circular needle, size 0-2 (depending on the sock yarn you choose and how tightly you knit) and 400 yards (ish) of sock yarn.

We fell in love with Garter Leaves, by Classic Cable Knits, when it was featured at our trunk show in August. Perfect for fall, this pattern begins with an easy charted leaf motif and finishes up with short rows. Choose sock, DK or worsted weight yarn. Sit and knit with us on Monday afternoons from 1 to 3 pm for assistance or some “me time”.
Trick your knitting group with this clever scarf pattern! Knit with three colors of sock yarn, it actually looks woven – not knit! Perfect for men and women alike, Maureen will help you Launch your Linen Stitch Scarf. This class meets Wednesday, October 19 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. The cost is $15 plus pattern and supplies.
If you came to the Classic Cables Trunk Show recently, you know Christina’s vest, named Greta, was a big hit!! The pattern will be available in mid-October, so be one of the first to take this class. Offered Saturday, October 22 and November 5 and 12 from 1 to 3 pm, this class costs $45 plus pattern and supplies. Greta is constructed top down and would be a nice first sweater project. This class is taught by Becky.
