Toddler Cardigan

Dates: Tuesday mornings, January 6,13, and 27, 11am to 1 pm

Teacher: Jane Fuqua

Project details: We will knit Tasia’s Cardigan, Cabin Fever pattern # 607. This pattern is suitable for a beginner who is very comfortable with knitting and purling. The sweater is knit all in one piece, with no seams to sew up! Yarn to be used must be purchased at Village Yarn Shop.

Cost: $30

Materials to bring:
1 -Pattern, Tasia’s Cardigan, Cabin Fever #607.

2 -Worsted Weight Yarn, as specified in pattern. (Buttons will be needed, but not for the first class.) Sample in shop is the smallest size and was knitted with two skeins of Berroco Comfort Worsted Nylon/Acrylic.

3- Needles: You will need a size 7 circular needle that is 24″ long and a set of size 7 double point needles for the sleeves.

4-A set of split ring stitch markers.

5-A tapestry needle for weaving in the ends.
Before the first class:
Tasia’s Cardigan is knit from the top down, starting with the collar. You will get more out of the first class if you have the collar part finished before the first class begins. This is very easy. All you need to do is take your #7 circular needle and cast on 52 stitches for the small size, 60 stitches for the medium, or 68 stitches for the large, and work back and forth (just as if you were using regular straight knitting needles) in garter stitch (which means knit every row.) Knit the collar until it is 2 ½ inches tall, or 3 inches tall for the largest size. When you are done, you will have a little rectangle of fabric and you will be ready to start the sweater shaping.

See you in class!
